Do I need a guarantor?

The only time you will need a guarantor is if you choose to pay your rent in instalments. 

Your guarantor must be over 25 years old and can be based in the UK or internationally. They agree to cover your rent if you’re unable to make a payment. Click Add Guarantor to enter their details and send them an invitation.

If you don’t have a guarantor, you can still pay in instalments by using a guarantor service such as Housing Hand, who can act as your guarantor for a small fee. We’ll verify the service before confirming your booking.

If you’re using a guarantor service, please enter the following details only:

First Name = Guarantor
Last Name = Service
Email Address = guarantor.service@hellostudent.co.uk

Once you have your guarantor sorted, you can enjoy the convenience of paying your rent in four instalments. Here is when your payments will be due. 

First payment: On 1st August  (this will need to be paid so that you can move in) 

Second payment: September 

Third payment: January 

Final payment: April 

You can keep track of all your payments directly through your portal. Your tenancy agreement will also include this information.  

We won’t contact your guarantor post-booking unless your rent payments are overdue, and you are unable to settle the amounts owed.
